Biography 略歴	【金谷五郎三郎】 京都を代表する錺鋳物師。 金谷五郎三郎は当主が代々襲名する名前。 初代が豊臣秀吉に命ぜられて緋銅色、黄銅色の金属着色法を生み出し、茶道用火鉢を造ったところ、「五良三郎色」と称賛され、屋号を「金屋」とした事でその歴史が始まる。現在は16代目。 （※初代の屋号は「金家」。9代目より、「金谷」と改めた） A leading master of decorative metalwork in Kyoto. “Kanaya Gorosabur?” is the name passed down through generations of the family’s heads. The history of the family began when the first-generation master, commissioned by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, developed metal coloring techniques producing crimson-bronze and brass hues and crafted a brazier for the tea ceremony. His work was praised as “Gor?sabur?-iro,” and he adopted the trade name “Kanaya.” (*The first generation’s trade name was “Kanaya.” It was changed to “Kanaya” starting with the 9th generation.) The current head of the family is the 16th generation.
